French horror shocker extraordinaire, Alexandre Aja (Haute Tension, Hills Have Eyes), returns to the screen with his most haunting and rewarding film to date, in this adaptation of Joe Hill’s brilliant second novel, Horns.
Daniel Radcliffe eschews his prior (type) casting and takes the lead as Ignatius “Ig” Perrish, the prime suspect in the brutal rape and murder of his longtime girlfriend, Marren (Juno Temple). Immediately condemned by the community and local media, Ig awakens one day to find two horns mysteriously protruding from his head and the ability to get people to share their darkest desires and hidden secrets. Initially terrified by this apparent affliction, Ig uses his newfound diabolical powers to find the truth behind Merren’s murder.
Set amidst the omnipotent gloom of the Pacific Northwest, HORNS echoes a world similar to its geographical neighbor Twin Peaks in which nothing is quite what it seems and everyone has a dark story to tell and terrible secret to hide. With Hill’s source material at his disposal, Aja has created not only his most mature and accomplished film to date, but also his most unsettling.
