ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13Egyptian Theatre / October 10, 2013 | 7:30pm
1976, CKK Corp., 90 min. Dir. John Carpenter
Death Waltz Recording Co. celebrates its latest slice of limited edition vinyl (released on site!!) with John Carpenter’s stark homage to Howard Hawks’ RIO BRAVO.
Rapid-fire banter flies fast and furious between charismatic convict Darwin Joston and policewoman Laurie Zimmer as the faceless, virtually supernatural marauders lay siege on them.
This remains one of Carpenter’s most effective pictures, an edge-of-your-seat thriller that put him on the map as an imaginative, creative force to be reckoned with.
Open bar, and contest prizes throughout the night courtesy of Death Waltz Records and Scream Factory
One of the most influential composers in the history of genre cinema, Alan Howarth has worked closely with director John Carpenter to craft the scores of some of his most formidable films: ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS, THEY LIVE and CHRISTINE – all carry Howarth’s signature synch sonics.
Making an incredibly rare appearance, Howarth will perform a live set of his most celebrated and popular compositions, in addition to collection of loved rarities.
Discussion between screening and performance with ASSAULT lead Austin Stoker, Alan Howarth and composer Clint Mansell.
