Bringing together genre veterans Eduardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Timo Tjahjanto and Liam O’Donnell, PORTALS is a striking sci-fi horror hybrid created by Chris White, which focuses on mysterious cosmic anomalies appearing across the world after a series of blackouts. Some attempt to flee these objects, others find themselves inexplicably drawn to them. No matter what the reaction, across a series of stories, the end results are bloody, frightening, destructive and most of all, brilliantly entertaining.
Proving there’s still a lot of life left in the anthology format, PORTALS reinforces its worth by relying on the talent on the incredible directors who each deliver ever-inventive ways of exploring the mystery behind these cosmic anomalies. When the crew you’ve put together includes the brilliant minds behind the V/H/S series, as well as some of the last decade’s most amazing horror shorts and features, the end result is guaranteed to be something special; PORTALS certainly does not disappoint.
Switching between genres with ease, the joy of PORTALS comes from discovering the unique flavor of each segment and also in discovering how the whole film comes together as a whole. Clearly building on all the lessons learned from producing some of the biggest anthologies of horror cinema, the team cleverly subverts all expectations and keeps delivering thrills, chills and (lots of) blood-spills!
A phenomenally fun ride, PORTALS is a roller-coaster that throws you side to side and has you grinning as the cold hand of fear squeezes your heart. A big-screen must-see!
