Grindhouse Releasing is bringing Sam Raimi’s EVIL DEAD to theaters for the first time in 4K with a terrifying new soundtrack!

This special edition of EVIL DEAD presents the horror classic for the first time with a reimagined score by original composer Joseph LoDuca and a thrilling new 5.1 surround mix created by Marti Humphrey and Jussi Tegelman, the award-winning sound crew behind DRAG ME TO HELL and ASH VS. EVIL DEAD.

Star BRUCE CAMPBELL explains, “Mixing the sound for EVIL DEAD in the early ’80s, we were forced to shove everything into one monaural box. As a result, Joe LoDuca’s great score had to compete unfairly with Kandarian Demons, gore sound effects and lots of screaming. With this new release, Joe can finally have his dynamic composition mixed, balanced and featured properly – for perhaps the first time ever!”

Grindhouse Releasing owner Bob Murawski worked with Raimi to restore EVIL DEAD from the original 16mm camera negatives and brought the stunning 4K transfer together with LoDuca’s new soundtrack. Murawski is an Oscar-winning film editor whose work with Sam Raimi includes DARKMAN, ARMY OF DARKNESS, THE GIFT, SPIDER-MAN 1, 2, & 3, DRAG ME TO HELL, and ASH VS. EVIL DEAD.

“With this fantastic new score, Joe LoDuca proves that he’s the Bartok of blood, the Shostakovich of shock, the Mahler of the macabre,” Murawski said. “The new music, new sound mix, and new 4K restoration have elevated EVIL DEAD from the scary to the sublime.”

Beyond Fest is screening EVIL DEAD: REIMAGINED on October 5th, which will feature a live set from Joe LoDuca before the film screens, performing select cues from THE EVIL DEAD with a live chamber orchestra. Death Waltz Recording Company has produced a commemorative version of the brand new rescore exclusively for Beyond Fest, pressed on 180g blue, neon green, and red splatter vinyl, housed inside an exclusive Necronomicon slipcase with a Beyond Fest obi strip! Tickets are going fast.

Beyond Fest and Death Waltz Records Present HO! HO! HELL!

SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT + CHRISTMAS EVIL Death Waltz Records Release
Featuring Cast! Crew! Krampus’! Donuts! Nuns! Snow! And all sorts of other Christmas carnage!

Bring the family and come celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with two of the most infamous shockers ever committed to celluloid.

Enjoying its 30th anniversary, SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT returns to the big screen on glorious 35mm, courtesy of the American Genre Film Archive.

After drawing the ire of parents, critics and its distributor, SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT quickly became the stuff of lurid legend as a homicidal Santa stabs, slashes and slaughters his way through Christmas Eve. Virtually every moral taboo is shattered in a wild 85 minutes that brings the warm glow of festive fear to one and all.

Not content with just one sacrilegious screening, we’re doubling down with the film John Waters described as “the greatest Christmas movie ever made,” the incomparable CHRISTMAS EVIL.

Molestation and murder are once again high on the holiday wish list as a mentally scarred child grows up to be a homicidal maniac with a penchant for Santa suits.

Rarely seen on the big screen, CHRISTMAS EVIL is a wonderfully dark and twistedly funny indictment of the commercialization of Christmas that is more cutting today than it was upon it’s release.

Copies of both soundtracks will be available to purchase on-site.

Immediately following SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT there will be a Q&A with cast and crew of SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT and CHRISTMAS EVIL director Lewis Jackson, followed by a signing session of both records.

Deathwaltz CEO A Dance Commander

Breakdancing virtuoso and CEO of Deathwaltz Records, Spencer Hickman, was recently spotted at the Duke @ Film4 FrightFest Film Party in a pure state of dance-related euphoria vaguely reminiscent of the Dionysian Mysteries.

Utilizing physics and the untold secrets of “the funk,” Hickman propelled his prone frame along the stage floor in the style of 80’s classic “the worm” before dozens of delighted filmmakers and cineastes at the Vue Cinema, in Leicester Square, London. View a snippet of his ecstatic display below.

Beyond the Black Rainbow

Jagjaguwar and Death Waltz Recording Company are excited to announce that they are coreleasing the soundtrack to Panos Cosmatos’ Beyond The Black Rainbow on 9/2. This supposed “lost film” from the 1980s is inspired by obscure scifi movies and classic dystopian fiction. Created by Sinoia Caves, the ongoing project of Jeremy Schmidt a disciple of longform cosmic synthesizer soundscape, and member of Canadian psychandprog pioneersBlack Mountain the soundtrack draws on inspiration from Tangerine Dream, Wendy Carlos andJohn Carpenter. Schmidt artfully navigates the various sonic sensibilities of his predecessors, incoporating touchstones such as mellotron choirs, glacial analogue synthesizer pads and arpeggiators. The result is ominously beauitful, otherworldly and terrifying.

The Death Waltz Recording Company version is exclusive to Europe & housed inside a super glossy Stoughton tip on (Casebound) sleeve complete with an Obi strip and comes on smoked clear and red vinyl with sleevenotes From Jeremy Schmidt this is a recordcollector’s record.

Head over to The AV Club for an exclusive listen.
